.Witton Gilbert
"The village of Witton Gilbert is situated 3½ miles north-west from Durham, on the north side of the river Browney. (...) The Church, with the parsonage, stands a little south of the village. It is a small neat structure, consisting of a nave and chancel, separated by each other by an oaken screen. (...) [It] still preserve[s] the delicate and affectionate, but almost obsolete custom, of hanging up funeral garlands. "
